    Spotlight Deal

If you’re looking for a versatile smartwatch under $200, the Fitbit Versa 3 may be a good option. It has a built-in GPS, which allows you to go for a run or ride without taking your smartphone along, plus a blood oxygen sensor, which enhances its sleep-tracking capabilities. It also has a mic and a speaker that allow you to take calls via a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone. Our testers found the Versa 3 to be a solid performer for counting steps and tracking heart rate, and it’s easy to pair with a smartphone.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the lowest price we’ve seen for this model, $20 less than the previous low.

    TVs

This 75-inch Hisense set, the Hisense 75A6H, had only decent overall picture quality in our tests. It’s a Google TV model that has a wider-than-average viewing angle for an LCD-based set.

Why it’s a good deal: This set is at a low price for its size, good for less finicky viewers looking for a jumbo-sized set. It was $50 less for Black Friday, but this is still a great discount.

This 43-inch set, the Insignia NS-43D420NA20, is a basic 1080p TV from Best Buy’s house brand. It offers satisfying high-definition picture quality, plus a wider-than-average viewing angle for an LCD TV. It lacks any smart TV features, so you may want to add a streaming player to stream shows and movies.

Why it’s a good deal: This set, available only at Best Buy right now, usually sells for about $200.

The LG OLED65C1PUB is a top overall performer, and a great choice for anyone looking for a set with great picture quality and an impressive HDR experience. It also has top-notch sound.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a decent discount for this set. It was $200 less during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but we don’t expect to see that price again this year.

This 43-inch 4K smart TV from TCL is in an entry-level 4K series for 2022; sets it did well for overall picture quality, but like many lower-priced sets not as well for HDR. This is a new 2022 model, and it uses the newer Google TV system rather than Android TV.

Why it’s a good deal: This is nearly the best price we’ve seen for this TV.

    Headphones

The Studio Buds are true wireless noise canceling earbuds that hit a sweet spot between price and performance. Sure, there are some earbuds that perform somewhat better, only a few—notably the Sennheiser CX Plus and the OnePlus Buds Pro— are in the same price range as the Studio Buds. While these earbuds aren’t particularly feature-packed, our expert testers report that the noise canceling works really well, and Studio Buds do sound really good, especially given their modest price.

Why it’s a good deal: These headphones are still on sale for just $10 more than their Black Friday price.

These are the first Powerbeats earphones to ditch the cable connecting the two earpieces for a true wireless design. The audio quality is just so-so; according to our tests, the bass is unnaturally loud, distorting the true sound of music. Still, Beats are popular, and these earphones could make for a great gift. They typically sell for $250.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a great discount, but they were $30 less during the holidays, so it’s not the best deal we’ve seen.

The Sennheiser CX Plus offers really good value in a true wireless noise-canceling earbud. According to our testers, the sound quality is more than solid, while the active noise-canceling performance is among the best we’ve tested and includes a transparency mode so that you can hear traffic while you’re walking. Some users might find the buds a bit bulky, but our testers found the fit to be fine for most users.

Why it’s a good deal: This is $10 lower than the previous best price, beating what we saw for Black Friday.

The Sennheiser Momentum 2 is a true wireless noise-canceling headphone that’s clearly aimed at the high-end market. Both the cloth-covered charging case and the earbuds themselves are quite elegant. The Momentum 2s don’t sound quite as good as they look, but they’re still satisfying to listen to. On the feature front, the Momentum 2s are sweat-resistant and compatible with both Apple Siri and Google Assistant.

Why it’s a good deal: This price is $20 more than the best we’ve seen, but it’s still a significant savings.

There are lots of great choices if you’re looking for budget noise-canceling headphones. One of our top picks is 1More ColorBuds 2, which offer the convenience of true wireless headphones, great sound quality, and superb noise cancellation, all for less than $100. 1More advertises a 6-hour battery life backed by a charging case that holds enough power for two full cycles.

Why it’s a good deal: Thanks to an on-page coupon, these headphones are nearly half off.

    Chromebooks

This 14-inch model has an Intel Celeron processor, 4 gigabytes of memory, and 32GB of flash storage. The model we tested had 64GB of storage. Our testers point out the admirable battery life (almost 13 hours for web browsing and almost 8 for more demanding loads) and the comfortable keyboard. Performance is about average and the display is merely so-so, but as long as you treat this as a low-cost productivity device as opposed to the only computer you’ll ever need, you should be okay.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a solid discount for an already lower-cost device.

The Asus Chromebook C536EA-BI3T3 has one of the fastest processing speeds among the Chromebooks we’ve tested. The battery life is below average in our web-browsing tests at 9.75 hours, and the 4.3-pound weight makes it less portable than other models. But the convertible form factor allows you to fold it into tent mode for watching videos.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a significant discount if you’re looking for a Chromebook with fast processing speeds.

The 13-inch Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 lands in the middle of the pack among models CR has tested. Its processing speeds are midrange compared with other Chromebooks, while its battery life is below average at 11.5 hours of web browsing. In addition to the touchscreen display, this model has a built-in microSD card slot for expanding the storage beyond its internal 64 gigabytes.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a substantial discount. It only $30 less during Black Friday, a deal we don’t expect to see again until the next major sale.

    Laptops

The 2021 LG Gram 17 can be a great option if you’re looking for a lightweight machine that can still perform. Its battery life for web browsing and video playback is one of the longest of all the models CR has tested, a feat you don’t often see on 17-inch laptops. It has a solid-state drive that can load up Windows and large programs quickly, and the large 2-terabyte storage space is great for local backups. While not the best choice for gaming, it does have fast speeds that can handle complex spreadsheets and videoconferencing.

Why it’s a good deal: A more than $300 discount is definitely worth considering if you need a workhorse of a laptop.

The Microsoft Surface Pro X, released in fall 2019, has some drawbacks but is well worth a look at this price. It has a 13-inch display that can be detached from the keyboard. That makes it a good pick if you plan to use it like a digital sketchpad or tablet. It also has pretty good battery life, making it a good travel companion. But the ARM processor is a little on the slow side compared with the Intel chips found in other Surface devices. It also creates some software compatibility issues. Our testers, for example, couldn’t run certain antivirus software. Microsoft maintains a list of apps that might not run on the Pro X, so be sure to consult it before purchasing the laptop.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the same discount we saw during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

    Fitness Trackers and Smartwatches

While technically a fitness tracker, this model offers a watchlike feel. You get a 1.3-inch monochrome display that shows your step count and heart rate. The Forerunner 35 has a built-in GPS and a claimed battery life of nine days, and we found in our testing that it makes good on its water-resistance claim of 164 feet. CR testers give the fitness tracker top marks for heart-rate tracking and step-count accuracy, as well as ease of use.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the best price we’ve ever seen for this fitness tracker, but it’s only available for the black model.

The Fitbit Inspire 2 fitness tracker has been on sale since mid-April, but the price continues to fall. It’s now only $7 more than the lowest we’ve seen all year. It gets top marks from our testers for step-count and heart rate accuracy, and it earns a spot among the best fitness trackers for its ease of use, pairing, and readability in low light. The Inspire 2 also has a very generous claimed battery life of 10 days (we don’t test that characteristic) and built-in GPS, a feature not found on many other fitness trackers.

Why it’s a good deal: The price is now $5 less than the best we’ve seen.

    Smart Speakers

The Echo Show 5 is Amazon’s smallest smart screen. Our testers report that the sound is subpar for a music-listening device, but that’s not why you should consider this one. It’s a utility machine that works well on a night table or desk. You get all the Amazon Alexa functionality featured in other Echo devices, plus some added value thanks to the small screen and camera.

Why it’s a good deal: The Show 5 is still available at its lowest price.

The Show 8 offers a lot of device for the money. The voice-enabled touchscreen can be useful in a kitchen when you want to follow a recipe while your hands are messy. The sound quality does have flaws—our testers found the treble to be strident and heard echoes in the all-important midrange. The Show 8 also lacks the Zigbee smart home hub found on the latest-generation Echo.

Why it’s a good deal: This speaker is still at its Black Friday price too.

    Wireless Bluetooth Speakers

The Denon Home 150 is a multiroom speaker that delivers fine sound: bass that’s impactful but a little boomy, an even midrange, and extended high frequencies and enough volume for a midsized room. The Home 150, unlike competitors from Sonos, offers both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and can be integrated with other Denon speakers and controlled by the company’s smartphone app.

Why it’s a good deal: This price is nearly $20 lower than the previous low we saw on Black Friday.

The boom-box-style XG300 is one of the better-sounding portable speakers we’ve tested, with bass that has a decent amount of sock and a clear, even midrange. The XG300 does what you want in a tailgating speaker with decent volume, IP67 water resistance, and a rechargeable battery that delivers 25 hours of battery life, according to Sony.

Why it’s a good deal: The Sony is a very good performer, and a $100 discount makes it even more appealing.

The Sony SRS-XP500 is big speaker with lighting effects, perfect for a party. Our testers report that it ranks among the best-sounding portable speakers we’ve reviewed, though at 25 pounds you’d better bend your knees when you lift it.

Why it’s a good deal: Even at its regular price, the XP500 is a good value, so at $100 off, the deal is even more worthwhile.

The JBL Pulse 4 has a transparent dome that covers an array of LED lights, so you can watch it as well as listen. You can adjust the model’s colors or make the LEDs pulse to the music so you can pump up the light show on Saturday night or tone it down to accent lamp levels after the guests have gone home. The sound quality is more than adequate, with solid but slightly boomy bass, a clear midrange that doesn’t distort vocals, and enough volume to fill a midsized room. That said, you’re paying a lot for the Pulse 4’s visual effects, so you might  consider buying the Flip 5 instead and having enough money left over for a nice lamp.

Why it’s a good deal: This was $50 less for Black Friday, but it rarely goes on sale otherwise, so we don’t expect to see the price drop any further again.

    Soundbars

The LG S65Q is a fairly basic 3.1-channel soundbar in LG’s 2022 lineup that delivers impressive overall sound quality. It can connect to a TV using either an HDMI or an optical audio connection, and if you have a compatible LG TV, it can use LG’s Sound Sync feature to connect via Bluetooth.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a great discount for a model that rarely goes on sale. It’s only $20 more than the price on Black Friday.

The 2022 Samsung HW-Q700B soundbar can wirelessly send a Dolby Atmos signal to a compatible Samsung TV over WiFi. It has Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2 built in, and it will work with Alexa and Google Assistant devices, so you can control it using voice commands. You can also expand it with the optional rear-speaker kit.

Why it’s a good deal: This soundbar is back to its lowest price.

    Streaming Devices

The latest Apple TV 4K has a few new notable features, including a redesigned Siri remote with a clickpad rather than the love-it-or-hate-it touchpad. (It is still touch enabled for directional swipes, though.) It also has a new processor for improved graphics and video, including support for high frame rate (60fps) Dolby Vision HDR. A unique feature is a color-calibration feature that works with your iPhone so that you don’t have to tweak the TV’s settings.

Why it’s a good deal: Apple TV has always been among the priciest of players, and it doesn’t often go on sale. It’s just $5 more than the low price we saw on Black Friday.

If you’re not picky about having the fastest speeds and WiFi 6 compatibility, the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K delivers a solid performance at a better price. The 4K stick-style player has a nice array of content and features—including voice control and Dolby Vision HDR. You can control it from Alexa-enabled devices such as the Echo and Dot, and use the included remote to control power and volume on many TVs and sound bar speakers. The player comes with an Alexa remote control with dedicated buttons for Amazon, Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the standard sale price we see for this device.

The Roku Streaming Stick 4K has most of the same features—including improved WiFi, support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR, and the ability to work with Amazon Alexa, Apple AirPlay, and Google Assistant voice assistant—but not the new rechargeable Voice Remote Pro remote control. Instead, you get a standard Roku voice remote, which lacks the hands-free operation, a headphone jack for private listening, and a lost-remote finder feature found on the Voice Remote Pro.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a few dollars more than the best price we’ve ever seen for this model.

    Wireless Routers

The Google Nest Wifi three-pack provides decent all-around performance, scoring well for throughput at near- and medium-range distances. It may fall a bit short in large homes, though, and it’s “only” WiFi 5 compatible. But at this price, it’s hard to complain.

Why it’s a good deal: Walmart’s new low price is the best we’ve seen.

If you don’t need (or want) a multi-router mesh setup, this single-unit WiFi 6 model from Netgear should be near the top of your list. It aced our throughput tests at all distances and was easy to set up via a smartphone app or an old-school, web-based wizard.

There’s automatic firmware updating to keep your data safe, plus four Ethernet ports and one USB port for connecting peripherals.

Why it’s a good deal: The sale price is $50 lower than we saw last week, coming within $10 of the best price we’ve seen.
