Best Hybrid Cars From Consumer Reports' Tests
While SUVs have become the primary vehicle choice of buyers, compact and midsized sedans are still a smart and popular choice for many consumers. They effectively blend fuel economy, passenger room, cargo space, and flexibility into a package that’s often more enjoyable to drive than the average SUV. And the hybrid versions are even better than their conventionally powered siblings in almost every way.
As Consumer Reports’ auto experts have seen in testing, hybrid versions of vehicles generally have better response when starting up from a stop, are quicker, and are quieter—in normal driving and when accelerating. Many of them also have ride and handling characteristics that are as good as—or better than—their conventionally-powered siblings.
If you have been planning to purchase a new sedan, there’s no reason to not consider a hybrid . . . unless you like visiting the gas station more often than is necessary.
