Air fryers soared in popularity in the past few years, and some of our picks for the best air fryers cost as much as $180, depending on their size and features. That said, Consumer Reportsā€™ test engineers have found some worthy air fryers with relatively budget-friendly prices.

In case youā€™re new to the device, an air fryer can be used for so much more than french fries, wings, and hot dogsā€”you can whip up pizza, fish, and even banana bread in one. Relying on a fan that circulates hot air around its basket or tray, an air fryer functions very much like a convection oven. But unlike an oven, an air fryer can live on your kitchen countertop or be stowed away in a cabinet when not in use. If space is an issue, check out our picks for the best small air fryers; or, if you need to feed a crowd, read up on the best large air fryers.

Below, we compiled our picks of the best air fryers under $100, listed in alphabetical order.

DĆ©cor enthusiasts will appreciate that the Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Air Fryer is available in a range of colors, but our testers find this machine is not just about looks. The touchscreen model scores well across the board in ease of cleaning, operating, and low noise levels while in use. But note that its 4-quart measured capacity is a lot smaller than its claimed capacity of 6 quarts. It also has a 2-year warranty.

You can feed a 4-person family with this large-capacity Bella Pro Series 6-qt. Digital Air Fryer. It earns a top-notch rating for its easy-to-use controls, but itā€™s on the noisy sideā€”it receives a middling score in our noise tests. Bonuses of this measured 5.2-quart model include preset cook modes, an auto shut-off for added safety, and a 2-year warranty.

The Dash Digital Tasti-Crisp is small but mighty. At a measured capacity of 1.9 quarts and an overall size of less than a square foot, this 6-pound model is one of the most compact air fryers in our ratings. Still, it ranks among the best. It earns Very Good ratings for controls and cleaning, and excels in our noise test. It has a 1-year warranty, which is typical for most models.

The Dash Express Tasti Crisp is just as quiet while cooking and just as easy to clean as the Dash Digital above. However, it lacks digital controls, so itā€™s not quite as easy to use. Like its sibling, this modelā€™s capacity is 1.9 quarts, less than the claimed capacity of 2.6 quarts. It comes with a 2-year warranty, longer than most of the models we test.Ā Ā

The Dreo Air Fryer earns Very Good ratings for the ease and legibility of its controls, ease of cleaning, and relatively quiet operating noise. The basketā€™s claimed capacity is 4 quarts, but CRā€™s test engineers find that it actually can hold 2.5 quarts. The 1-year warranty is on a par with most of the models we test.

The Elite Platinum air fryer earns Very Good ratings in all of CRā€™s tests. Itā€™s relatively quiet, and the controls and programmed settings are fairly easy to read. While the model may appear to be large, its handle folds down, making storage a cinch. Cleaning the inside and outside of the air fryer is a snap, but cleaning the basket takes a little more effort. This modelā€™s measured capacity is 3.4 quarts.

The Emerald 1812 4L Digital Air Fryer is an admirable performer across all of CRā€™s tests. Its measured capacity is 3.9 quarts, slightly less than its claimed capacity of 4 liters (approximately 4.2 quarts). The model comes with preprogrammed settings for cooking specific foods, as well as an auto shutoff function. It has only a 90-day warranty, which is shorter than most air fryers rated by CR.

One of the top air fryers in our ratings, the Gourmia GAF686 Digital receives an ExcellentĀ rating for controls and impresses with its quiet operation and ease of cleaning. Though its measured capacity is 4.3 quarts, its overall size is equivalent to some smaller-capacity models. At 9 pounds, the Gourmia is one of the lightest large-capacity models we recommend, which means you can move it more easily from cabinet to countertop and back.

This GoWise air fryer has a measured capacity of 4.9 quarts. Its touch buttons and programmed settings are among the easiest to see and use. It also stands out as a particularly quiet air fryer. That said, the exteriorā€™s crevices and the basketā€™s nooks and crannies may take some effort to clean.

The electronic controls and programmed settings on the Ninja AF100 are among the easiest to see and use, respectively, earning it high ratings in our controls testing. Cleaning the inside and outside is also fairly simple. The modelā€™s measured capacity is just about average at 3 quarts. Bear in mind that this Ninja runs on the noisy side, with the fan as loud as a countertop microwave. Its warranty is for 1 year.

The Oster DiamondForce Nonstick XL 5 Quart Digital Air Fryerā€™s digital touchscreen and programmed settings are fairly easy to see and use. The Oster isnā€™t a big noise producer, and cleaning the inside and outside doesnā€™t take a lot of elbow grease. Despite the air fryerā€™s name, the basket has a measured capacity of 3.6 quarts. Like other models we test, this one comes with a 1-year warranty.

The Proctor Silex Air Fryer Model 35060 is an analog model, so you donā€™t get the benefits of a digital display, but at a measured capacity of 4.9 quarts, itā€™s one of the most affordable large-capacity models in our ratings. Itā€™s also fairly easy to clean, even though itā€™s not dishwasher-safe. And it has a relatively low operating noise. Its 3-year warranty is more generous than the 1-year warranty thatā€™s standard with most air fryers in CRā€™s ratings.

A Williams Sonoma exclusive, the Open Kitchen Digital Air Fryer comes with a 3.6-quart interior basket and a brushed stainless steel exterior. It earns only a middling score for its controls but aces the noise test. Itā€™s also pretty easy to clean. This model is designed with a digital display and programmed settings. Like most of the models we test, this one comes with a 1-year warranty.Ā
