Electric Tanked is part of the Water Heaters test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Electric Water Heaters models like the Electric Tanked are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Replacement payback The number of years of energy savings (from a new water heater) needed to cover the purchase and installation costs of replacing an existing water heater.

New construction payback The number of years of energy savings (from a new water heater) needed to cover the purchase and installation costs when installed in a new structure.

Average annual energy consumption cost Based on the estimated amount of fuel, and the resulting cost, that a water heater uses per year under simulated heavy use conditions.
