ZLine Recalls About 28,000 Gas Ranges
The gas stoves can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide during use, posing a risk of injury or death
ZLine has recalled about 28,000 pro-style gas ranges. The ranges, sold in 30- and 36-inch configurations, can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide during use, posing a serious risk of injury or even death. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that kills dozens of people each year in the U.S. One of the easiest ways to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning is to install a carbon monoxide detector.
ZLine has received 44 reports of carbon monoxide emissions, including three incidents in which people sought medical attention as a result, according to a release from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Consumer Reports has not tested any of the recalled models but has tested other ZLine ranges.
CR has also done its own gas range emissions testing on other models. While our testing did find potentially worrisome levels of nitrogen oxides, our experts were not concerned by carbon monoxide emissions produced by any of the ranges we tested. ZLine ranges were not part of that testing.
Details of the Gas Range Recall
The recall: About 28,000 ZLine gas ranges sold at a variety of online and walk-in retailers nationwide. The recall specifically involves 30- and 36-inch ranges with the following model numbers: RG30, RGS-30, RGB-30, RG36, RGS-36, and RGB-36. The ranges have a number of different finishes. The ZLine logo is printed at the bottom of the door, and the model number can be found on a label on the back of the range. (For ranges purchased after 2020, the model number is also on a label underneath the right side of the range top.)
The risk: The oven in the range can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide during use, posing a risk of injury or death.
Incidents/injuries: ZLine has received 44 reports of carbon monoxide emissions, including three reports of people seeking medical attention.
Where and when sold: Best Buy, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and The Range Hood Store, and online at bestbuy.com, build.com, costco.com, homedepot.com, therangehoodstore.com, overstock.com, and wayfair.com. The gas ranges were sold from February 2019 through December 2022 for $2,300 to $5,000.
