    Rest and Relaxation

    Sleeping Mask

    Slip Sleep Mask

There’s no doubt about it: This popular mask is gorgeous. It’s made with stunning silk fabric, and colors include a lush navy, a graceful ballet pink, and opulent gold. It has a scrunchy backstrap that stretches rather than adjusts, which allows for a more seamless look (but perhaps an imperfect fit). To that end, some CR evaluators found that the mask was true to its name and slipped during the night. Overall, the Slip makes a great gift for that stylish someone in your life. Just make sure to get a gift receipt in case it well, slips.

    Sunrise Alarm Clock

JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock

The JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock is at least half the price of other clocks we tested, but from an ease-of-use standpoint, this model comes out on top. It has two independent alarms (so you can set them for different times depending on your routine), seven alarm tones (including “wind bells” and birds chirping), an FM radio, and a fall-asleep mode that simulates a sunset (though no white-noise option). Check the on-page coupon to save 5 percent.

    Weighted Blanket

    Luna Cotton Weighted Blanket

If you’ve been thinking of trying a weighted blanket, now’s the time. The cover of the Luna blanket is cotton; it doesn’t come with a duvet cover. The company says you can wash it in cold water on the gentle setting and hang it to dry or tumble-dry on low heat. Bonus: It’s sold in 24 colors to suit your decorative style. Make sure to click the on-page coupon to get the lowest price.

    Slippers

    Crocs Classic Lined Clog

In our recent review of popular slippers, 3 out of 4 CR evaluators found themselves head over heels for the Lined Crocs. “I am pleasantly surprised that these are extremely comfortable,” said Ginger Cowles, a managing editor and member of the slippers evaluation team. These clogs, as Crocs calls them, feel stable and secure, with a thick, textured sole that doesn’t slip and provides ample distance and insulation from frigid floors in the winter. They’re also machine washable (in cold water only), though we haven’t tried that ourselves.  A foam strap can either be pulled over the front of the shoe, transforming the Crocs into a slide, or over the back, making the shoe more secure on your foot.

The Coop Home Goods Premium Adjustable Loft pillow is made of shredded memory foam and earns an Excellent rating in our tests for support, no matter your size and whether you sleep on your side or back. It comes with extra foam so that you can adjust the filling to your liking. The Coop also keeps its shape well, showing little or no change in height or fluffiness in our resilience tests. Our panel of testers liked the look and feel of this pillow, too. The only test where this pillow falls slightly short is in how well it allows air to circulate. It sleeps slightly warm, so your head might feel a little sweaty at night.

    Massage Gun

    Renpho R3 Massage Gun

The Renpho R3 Massage Gun might be the best all-around device for most average users because it’s small and lightweight, and relatively quiet compared with other devices. But it’s not the ideal choice for people who want the most intense massage or the best way to massage areas on the back. Click on Amazon’s on-page coupon to get the lowest price.

    Yoga Mat

    Gaiam Performance Longer/Wider Dry-Grip

Here’s one for the yogi in your life: Consumer Reports tested 19 yoga mats to find out how each one holds up to regular use. Gaiam’s Performance mat aced the drying and grip tests CR put it through but offered somewhat less cushioning. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; a firmer mat can provide more stability for standing poses and can be easier on the wrists.

    BaBylissPro Nano Titanium

Priced at a very reasonable $75, the BaBylissPro is an eye-catching curling iron with a shiny blue, extra-long barrel, which delivered long-lasting, Rapunzel-quality curls in our evaluations. One downside worth noting: The lack of a barrier between the heated barrel and the handle makes it easier to burn your hand if you’re not careful.

    Electronics

Noise-canceling true wireless earbuds at a stocking stuffer price? No, that’s neither a joke nor a typo. The 1More ComfoBuds Pro channel Apple’s AirPods in terms of styling, and our testers report that they’re not far off in terms of performance at a small fraction of the price. You might even think about a second pair so you can treat yourself to your favorite holiday tunes.

The Sennheiser HD 250BT headphones are a relative newcomer but make a mark for providing very good sound at a bargain price. The HD 250BT is an over-ear set with a sleek appearance and a price that often dips below $70, making this one of the best values among Bluetooth headphones in our ratings.

It has controls for volume, calls, and playback, a smartphone app for equalizer adjustments, and an advertised 25-hour battery life. It also charges over USB-C, the same cable that powers newer Mac laptops and tons of other devices. Sennheiser is a winner for reliability and owner satisfaction, too, earning superb ratings in both categories.

The Nest Audio has undergone a visual transformation, with its new rounded rectangle form replacing a predecessor that resembled an air freshener. Under that new skin resides an all-new speaker design, with a separate tweeter and woofer replacing the single driver of the outgoing Google Home. Alexa smart speakers have a wider variety of skills, but some users find Google’s search to be smarter and its voice-recognition features to be more natural and easier to use.

Though the company touted the Nest Audio’s sonic performance, our testers found that the gains in sound quality are modest. The Nest Audio has enough volume for a midsized room, but the midrange is a little hazy and there’s some sizzle in the high frequencies. Overall, however, the sound is satisfying, especially for the money.

This cylindrical Bluetooth speaker from JBL is a CR Smart Buy for its attractive combination of good performance and low price. It’s available in six colors and a number of patterns, including camouflage. Our testers found the sound quality to be good. Two units can be used in stereo; you can fill a room with sound while still paying less than you would for mono speakers. The test team also liked the Flip’s ease of use, including its fuss-free pairing.

As the name suggests, the Fire HD 8 Plus is a beefed-up version of the Fire HD 8. In addition to the faster processor of its sibling, the HD 8 Plus has 3 gigabytes of memory vs. the regular tablet’s 2GB. It can also be wirelessly charged and has an upgraded 5-megapixel rear camera.

    Soda Maker

    SodaStream Terra

We found the high-rated SodaStream Terra’s “quick connect” snap-on mounting for CO₂ cartridges easier to use than the older, screw-in setups of other SodaStream models. (The new pink cartridges you’ll need for this unit cost the same and can carbonate the same volume as the older cartridges.) The Terra needs no electricity to work. This package includes one pink CO₂ cartridge and one carbonating bottle.  We tested the red Terra model, which is a perfect color for the holiday season.

    Knives

    Henckels Premio 8” Chef’s Knife

Henckels has been making knives in Germany for nearly 300 years, and its expertise in design is on full display with this knife. The Permio’s handle is contoured with no sharp edges, resulting in a knife that’s extremely comfortable to hold. It also excels at force transmission from handle to blade, which means you don’t need to exert as much effort when cutting.

    Manual Knife Sharpener

    Chef's Choice 4643 Knife Sharpener

The Chef’s Choice 4643 knife sharpener looks like the analog version of the brand’s electric sharpener, but it works a bit differently. It has two basic sharpening settings, one for sharpening knives to 15 degrees and another to 20. A third stage polishes the edge of any knife no matter which sharpening angle you choose. Like the brand’s electric sharpener, the 4643 feels well designed, with grooves that hold the knife at the perfect angle as you slowly draw it through.

The good-looking Martha Stewart Dutch oven is also attractively priced. It’s a speed demon at heating up water, and the bread we baked came out well, earning a Very Good on that test. It’s pretty easy to clean, but cooking evenness was just middling. Its main downfall is in simmering sauces; it notched a subpar score.

Give the gift of a classic kitchen accessory that will hold up. The Lodge Seasoned Cast Iron Baking Pan is the smallest of all the sheet pans in our tests, but at almost 8½ pounds, it weighs the most—by far. In fact, it’s difficult to remove it from the oven with just one hand. On the plus side, it doesn’t warp, and cleanup is easier than it is for other uncoated pans.

The Dash Digital Tasti Crisp is small but mighty. At a measured capacity of 1.9 quarts and an overall size of less than a square foot, this 6-pound model is one of the most compact air fryers in our ratings. Still, it ranks among the best. It earns Very Good ratings for controls and cleaning, and excels in our noise test. It has a 1-year warranty, which is typical for most models.

If you or a loved one just have to use freshly ground coffee beans for every brew, check out the Black+Decker Mill & Brew CM5000B, which features a built-in grinder. This 12-cup brewer performs well in our tests, with a rating of Very Good for carafe handling, and it’s very easy to use and clean. In addition to its grinder, this Black+Decker features a permanent filter, auto-shutoff, brew-strength control, and programming, making it a great countertop model for your daily grind.

The Ninja Master Prep Professional QB1004 features a unique top-mounted motor to turn out snow cone–textured ice for smoothies. While Ninja doesn’t claim this model makes hot soups and juices, it excels at all the main blending tasks. The removable blade makes cleanup easy. Swap out the 6-cup blending jar for its 16-ounce food chopper and the versatile Ninja does an impressive job chopping onions and nuts, and grating cheese. But at just 450 watts, it’s the lowest-powered blender of the bunch.
